Some of the services we offer include:

Tree Care Services

We offer basic tree care services to residents and businesses, such as fertilization and soil management or diagnosis of problems that are causing your trees to lose vitality. We provide free estimates for these and other regular services, like maintenance tasks such as shrub pruning and tree trimming services, which are helpful aesthetically and can help prevent damage or injury when storms occur. Tree cabling and bracing are performed when necessary to fortify trees that are unable to support their own weight (like mature trees with multi-trunks) and tree lightning protection system installation is available as well.

Tree Removal Services

Though we love our trees, tree removal is often necessary for a number of reasons. If a tree is unsound or in a location that is problematic, such as near sidewalks or structures (with large roots causing cracks in the concrete), the safest plan may be to remove the tree. We are experienced with removing small trees and large ones, in a way that causes as little disruption your yard and surrounding soil as possible. Our team is experienced with many types of tree removal jobs, including those in tight locations or near homes or power lines. We offer other services associated with tree removal, like stump grinding/removal and backfill of the hole left by the tree.

Pest Treatment

Many types of pests can be found in Pennsylvania and Delaware that can be harmful to trees. The emerald ash borer has destroyed countless ash trees across the United States. An untreated infestation can cause you to lose your trees, if untreated. We are certified to diagnose and treat emerald ash borer and will advise you on your options if these beetles are found in your landscape. We are also certified to treat in areas with spotted lanternfly infestations.

Commercial and Municipal

Stein Tree Service provides all routine maintenance for commercial and municipal customers. In addition, we offer right-of way-clearing, facility and site landscape management plan development, and construction site management to help protect the trees on your property and help them thrive to create a positive image for your customers.

Plant Health Care (PHC)

Emergency Tree Care

In our area, summer and winter storms can be hard on trees, particularly if they are unsound or if the canopies are too thick. We recommend regular inspections for problems, however, when trees fall onto your home or property, time is critical. We respond 24 hours a day, 7 days a week for emergency tree services. When you have storm damage and need emergency tree removal we will schedule an onsite assessment as soon as it it safe to do so and offer priority scheduling for hazardous situations.

We offer comprehensive tree and Plant Health Care (PHC) assessment plans that are developed by our plant health care specialist to meet your lawn’s specific needs.

These plans may include a variety of essential practices that can maintain the beauty of your landscape through the use of cultural and biological methods. We inspect and monitor your trees and plants for pests and diseases before they reach damaging levels and develop a custom IPM (integrated pest management) package based on that assessment.

Our plant health care service packages range from one to five visits, depending on the individual needs of your lawn. We offer fertilization and soil testing to promote healthy, thriving plants. We also offer organic deer repellants and tick control treatments as well as fungicidal, foliar and systemic applications.

FAQs About Tree Services

What tree diseases are common in our service area?

Common Mid-Atlantic tree issues include anthracnose, bacterial leaf scorch, and powdery mildew. Oak wilt has also been documented in our region, and Beech Leaf Disease (BLD) is an emerging concern. Regular inspections can help catch symptoms early and guide the right next steps.

Can tree problems be prevented?

Yes! Regular inspections, soil care, tree maintenance such as pruning, and monitoring tree health can prevent many major tree problems before they progress too far.

How often should trees be trimmed?

Most trees benefit from trimming every 3 to 5 years. Fast-growing species, or trees in high-risk areas, might need more frequent maintenance.

How much does tree removal cost?

Removal costs vary based on the tree’s size, location, and complexity. Contact us for a free, customized estimate.

Is stump removal part of your tree removal service?

We offer stump grinding as an option on most properties. If we perform this service, we can also backfill the hole with the remains of the stump.

How can I tell if my tree needs to be removed?

Signs include large dead branches, cracks in the trunk, visible root damage, fungus at the base, or significant leaning. Trees that are growing into powerlines or hanging over structures can cause problems. We will assess risk and recommend options.
